GRAPHIC DESIGNER  MARIE URUP KREMER

Our graphic designer Marie spent her holiday visiting Malta for the first time. A small boutique hotel and strolling around the streets of Valetta was among her vacation highlights.
Keep reading for her best tips.

Lulu Boutique hotel
Lulu is a perfect little hotel in small town Zebbug. Local couple Clive and Ljudmila, own and manage the hotel. The place is filled with beautiful furniture, paintings and greenery.
There are only eight rooms in the hotel, ours had its own pool and a roof top terrace.

Lokomotif Kafé
At Lokomotif Kafé in Zebbug you get the best dinner. They only have four tables and the menu changes daily. We had gnocci with beetroot and pasta with fresh truffle, delicious.

Fontanelle Tea Garden
Surrounded by a beautiful town wall, lies the ancient town of Mdina. Within the walls, the buildings made of Maltese yellow limestone and decorated with small porcelain figurines, is a striking sight. Fontanelle Tea Garden serves the tastiest cakes and iced coffee, with a view overlooking all of Malta.

Valletta

When in Valletta you must go and see the impressive churches and stroll around the small streets where you’ll find lots of small restaurants waiting to give, you your next culinary experience.
In the Upper Barack Gardens there are pretty fountains and beautiful sea views.

Reading recommendations

I have spent the holidays reading and The Inseparable by Simone De Beauvoir. The little novel is a gem of a tale from 1910s Paris, about Simone de Beauvoir's friendship with her childhood friend Zaza.
